This ride started as a way to experience my favorite part of the Duluth 500 Year Flood Route. It straddles 2 states, Wisconsin and Minnesota and incorporates gravel riding on some of the most remote roads that I know of. From the scenic St Croix River to Crex Meadows (which was founded by a distant relative of mine) to the Rutabaga Capital of Minnesota, this ride has the remoteness and peace I normally associate with the Northwoods.
This ride is not suitable for skinny tires as one gravel stretch in particular has quite a few sand traps. It's best experienced on 42mm tires or 32mm ones at minimum.
